This month, the “Talentless” Cleetus Brown was kind enough to let me take a few pictures of John Dolan’s Knuckle, and tell me a little about it. John rode the bike from about 1971 until about 1980 with a Wide Glide and split tank set up. Some where around ’79 or ’80 is when the bike transformed into the chopper you see here. Tucson’s “Mushroom” Joe rebuilt the motor with 80″ SnS flywheels. It was stock bore, had an auto advance distributor and an SnS carb. John molded the frame, added the appropriate tins, seat, bars, and sissy bar, then finished it off with a 12″over Jammer springer. For it’s maiden voyage, John took a quick little jaunt with his Bride on back from Tucson to Chicago, Chicago to El Paso, and then back to Tucson again. John continued to ride this bike until his passing in 2005, when it ended up with Cleetus. Such a cool bike and a great piece of Southern Arizona history.
